About Us

ACSYRACUSE is a community based professional soccer team in Syracuse, New York.  The team will lace up the boots in their inaugural season to compete in the National Independent Soccer Association in fall  2022.  Our mission is to provide the ultimate fan experience at an affordable cost, promoting and enhancing the game of soccer for the fans.  ACSYRACUSE will be the team that soccer fans look to for excitement, engagement and community—and the team that every player wants to play for.  We will reflect diversity and inclusiveness and will strive to set the standard of excellence for professional soccer organizations.

The Club’s pyramid includes a youth program that features an academy team, amateur reserve team and a men’s and women’s professional team in the National Independent Soccer Association. These teams create a system that focuses on player education and development and provides a pathway for players to develop and rise through the pyramid to the professional teams.  ACSYRACUSE will work closely with local youth and amateur soccer organizations, talented coaches, knowledgeable trainers, dedicated investors and sponsors, to bring the premiere professional soccer club to the Central New York Community.

"ACSYRACUSE will bring the Friday Night Lights atmosphere to the Central New York Area and restore our city soccer roots.  Syracuse has a prominent history as a soccer community.  Beginning in the early 1970’s, the semi-professional soccer leagues in Syracuse flourished with a world cup atmosphere amongst their ethnic teams.  Thousands of people would cheer their teams on in a carnival atmosphere that would capture the imagination of our youth.  Kids fell in love with the beautiful game as they emulated their favorite team and player. Some of these kids grew up to become coaches, administrators and professional soccer players.  I am very excited to bring a professional soccer team back to Central New York, we haven’t had an outdoor professional team since 2004.  AC Syracuse believes this is the right time to establish something very special and give players the unique pathway to transcend from the grassroots to the professional level."

The National Independent Soccer Association was founded in 2017 by Peter Wilt and the late Jack Cummins. Its mission is to bring professional soccer to every city in the United States. A pro league member of U.S. Soccer, NISA focuses on a model based on meritocracy, independent clubs controlling their own league, clubs owning their intellectual property, all without the barrier of territorial rights. Sanctioned by the U.S. Soccer Federation, NISA also runs the mid-summer pro-am Independent Cup tournament, the year-long amateur league NISA Nation, and NISA Media.
